Day 1 - Hanoi to Lao Cai - Night on the train
Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi, transfer to Hanoi station for the night train to Lao Cai. Overnight on the train in soft berth cabin with a/c.
Day 2 - Sa Pa
Arrival in Lao Cai railway station at about 6.00 AM. Transfer to Sapa by private vehicle (1hr drive). The room is at your disposal from 13h30. From Sa Pa, travel by car to Lao Chai ethnic minority village of Black Hmong, visit the village and discover the local life. From Lao Chai, take a trekking tour towards Ta Van, the ethnic village of Day people. Enjoy the picnic lunch on the way. Return to Sa Pa at the end of the day. (B/L)
Day 3 - Sa Pa
From Sa Pa, travel by car to the ethnic villages of Ma Tra and Ta Phin. Here you can take a light trekking to experience the local life of the ethnic minority people of H’Mong and Red Dzao, 2 of the largest ethnic groups in the area hiding away from civilization. You can already recognise them by their dress while they are both very famous of handicraft. Picnic lunch in the village. Return to Sa Pa town at the end of the day. (B/L)
Day 4 - Sa Pa / Lao Cai night train to Hanoi
Morning transfer from Sa Pa to Bac Ha passing the beautiful mountainous road. Arrive in Bac Ha and visit Bac Ha market – the most colourful market in Northwest of Vietnam where you can meet about 10 different ethnic minorities, the place that people attend not only for trading but for rice-wine drinking, social communication, making friends… In the afternoon continue to trek through some Tay villages and rainforest to visit Thai Giang Pho – the village of Flower Hmong people that you met on the market. You will learn about their daily life, say hello to local children and enjoy the nice view along the trail. Transfer to Lao Cai station for the night train to Hanoi. (B)
NOTE: Bac Ha market takes place on Sundays only. Other markets are held in the region on some other days of the week: Can Cau market is held on every Saturday morning and the Coc Ly market is on every Tuesday morning. Depending on your travelling dates, another market visit will be arranged rather than Bac Ha market.
Day 5 - Hanoi
Arrive in Hanoi in the early morning.
