Day 1 - UK departure

Depart the UK with international flight to Bangkok.

Day 2 - Arival in Bangkok

Upon arrival, you'll be met and transferred to hotel for check-in and tour briefing. Rest of day free to relax or explore.

Day 3 - Bangkok

Todays sightseeing includes the Golden Buddha image of 5.5. tons at Wat Trimit, the 45 meter reclining Buddha at Wat Po, the remarkable Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha temple. Lunch will be in a restaurant by the Chao Praya River. Rest of the day free at own leisure. (B/L)

Day 4 - Bangkok to River Kwai

Today we depart Bangkok for Kanchanaburi to visit the War Museum and Cemetery. Continue with a scenic boat ride from Mae Klong River to Kwai Noi and Kwai Yai Rivers. Lunch is served at Pakseng Pier, then we journey on the Death Railway Train through lush forest. Proceed to Kanchanaburi for the evening. (B/L)

Day 5 - River Kwai to Ayutthaya to Phitsanulok

Today we drive to Phitsanulok with stops en route to visit the former capital Ayuthaya, Saraburi and Lopuri. The principal sights are the gigantic bronze statues of Wat Mongkol Borpitr, the three ancient pagodas at Wat Phra Sri Sanpetch and Wat Pranangcherng. This is followed with the shrine of Phra Buddha Badh with the holy footprint of Lord Buddha, the Prang Sam Yod (Sacred Three Spires Pagoda), the ruins of Wat Phra Sri Ratana Maha Dhat, and the Monkey Temple. Day 6 - Phitsanulok to Sukhothai

Today we'll tour from "Phra Sri Rattana Sasadaram", one of the most beautiful Buddha images in Thailand, to Sukhothai Historical Park and to the site of the capital of the very first independent Thailand. Founded in the 13th century, Sukhothai enjoyed a golden age under reign of King Ramkhamhaeng. The superb temples and monuments of this great city have been lovingly restored in the Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-see for all travellers. (B/L)

Day 7 - Sukhothai to Lampang to Chiang Rai

After breakfast this morning we journey overland to the ancient town of Sri Satchanalai, formerly "Muang Chaliang". Highlights of the town are the 91- hectare area within the old ramparts and moats in the Historical Park. We then proceed to Lampang province and admire the Phra That Lampang Luang Temple. (B/L/D)

Day 8 - Chiang Rai / Mae Sai / Golden Triangle

Today our sightseeing includes Mae Sai Market on the border with Myanmar. This is a good chance to see local commerce life and shop around in one of the biggest border markets that offers almost everything one may need. After lunch we continue to the infamous Golden Triangle, the centre of the opium trade in Southeast Asia. From a hill top, you can see the "Triangle" by the Mekong in joint with the Ruak River. Day 9 - Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai to H'mong Hilltribe Lodge

Today from Chiang Mai we travel one hour overland to the H'mong Hilltribe Lodge. Here the rice fields meet the forest and people from Thailand's second-largest minority group live - the H'mong. Admire the embroidered aprons, colorful sashes and silver jewelry worn by many H'mong females, and gain a fascinating insight into local customs during a display of traditional song and dance. Complete the experience with a barbecue dinner and a H'mong cultural show in the evening. (B/L/D)

Day 10 - H'mong Hilltribe Lodge to Chiang Mai

This morning we drive down hills to the Elephant Conservation Centre where we tour the facilities of the elephant hospital and see how young elephants are weaned from their mothers. We'll have the opportunity to take a ride on the back of these majestic animals. After lunch at the Centre, we transfer to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, the most sacred temple in Chiangmai. We have the opportunity to captivate a breathtaking view of Chiang Mai below at sunset from the hilltop temple. (B/L)

Day 11 - Chiang Mai to Bangkok

Transfer to the airport for a flight back to Bangkok. Rest of the day free. (B)

Day 12 - Bangkok to London

Free till transfer to the airport for departure flight to London. Same day arrival at London Heathrow. End of services. (B)
