Depart the UK for international flight to Yangon.
You will be met on arrival by our English speaking guide at Yangon International Airport and transferred to hotel. Time allowing we will visit Myanmar’s holiest monument, the Shwedagon Pagoda, with its golden Stupa covered with 60 tons of pure gold. Welcome dinner to complete our first day.
Accommodation - Panorama Hotel
Today we tour to discover the colourful capital of Myanmar. We start with the National Museum, the Sule pagoda, the Mahabandoola Park, the colonial courthouse and the city hall. Hop on a rickshaw and drive around the colonial area with a stop at a local teashop to enjoy Burmese tea. Continue along the famous Strand Road and visit the bustling Yangon harbour.
In the afternoon continue to Yangon’s China town and admire the beautiful Chinese temple Kheng Hock Keong. Stroll the colourful Theingyi Market and Bogyoke Aung San Market (formerly Scott’s market) for shopping and free time.
Note: Bogyoke Scott Market is closed every Monday.
Yangon – Mandalay
Today we travel by air to Mandalay then proceed overland to Amarapura. In Amarapura we will visit Mahagandayon, a famous Buddhist monastery, home to over one thousand monks. Continue to the 200-year-old U Bein teak bridge which dates from 1782 when Amarapura was the royal capital. Visit Bagaya Monastery with a superb collection of Buddha statues.
Afternoon we view the spectacular Buddha image covered in thick layers of gold leaf at the Mahamuni pagoda, followed by Shwe Inbin monastery and Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung (the Golden Palace Monastery), a superb example of a traditional wooden building. Tour Kuthodaw pagoda, known for the huge book of 729 marble slabs engraved with Buddhist scriptures. Conclude the day watching the magnificent sunset from the Mandalay hill.

Mandalay – Mingun - Ava - Saging – Mandalay
This morning we transfer to the jetty and board a private boat for a cruise across the Irrawaddy River towards the former capital of Mingun. Mingun is famous for its huge unfinished pagoda housing Mingun Bell, the world's largest uncracked ringing bell, and the beautiful white Hsinbyume pagoda.
From Mingun we continue to by boat to Inwa (Ava) then enjoy a horse-drawn carriage to Namyint Watch Tower, the leaning tower of Ava, Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery of brick and stucco and Bargayar Monastery with numerous impressive ornate woodcarvings and teak posts.
Mandalay - Bagan
Morning transfer to airport for a flight to the ancient city of Bagan in upper Myanmar. We will tour the city’s most important pagodas and temples such as Shwezigon, Ku Byauk Gyi, Khay Min Ga, Ananda, the Mon-styled Manuha, Nanbaya, Gu Byaukgyi, the city’s central market and a lacquer ware village in Myinkaba.

Bagan - Mt.Popa - Bagan
We journey to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano, to challenge ourselves with climbing the 777 steps to the shrine at the top of the volcanic plug to the animistic shrine called by the locals as “Nats”.
Bagan – Heho - Pindaya – Inle Lake
Bid farewell to Bagan and fly to Heho. From Heho we drive to Pindaya and visit the unique Pindaya caves crammed with Buddha images from pilgrims over many centuries. Call at a Shan Paper Umbrella workshop before transfer to Nyaung Shwe to take a boat to our hotel on Inle Lake.
Accommodation - Hupin Kuang Daing
This morning we tour by boat on the Inle Lake to experience local life in this secluded corner of the world, seeing leg-rowers, floating gardens and villages. Afternoon we travel further to Phaungdawoo pagoda, visit the weaving village of Inpawkhon and other interesting sights.
A whole day totally free to relax.

Putao Amazing Extension
Yangon - Putao
Transfer to Yangon Airport for flight to Putao . Upon arrival meet and greet by Putao trekking house representative and transfer to hotel. Putao lies in a flat valley, jumping off point for trekkers who want to explore the regions deep forests, wildlife sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains etc. We check in at hotel and get some orientation. In the afternoon we start with a bike ride to Lonsut village, through vast paddy fields, crossing over Namhtun creek and walking up to a small plateau for spectacular views over the Putao valley. We continue biking through beautiful bamboo groves to Hopaing Shan village. Here we visit the Buddhist Monastery and experience social and culture intra-action with friendly Shan people. Our return journey will be along Namtun creek with optional visit to some of the Lisu villages on the way.

Biking trip to Ziyon
After breakfast at hotel we start our bike ride southward to Mulashidi (8 mile, 12 km ) through well paved roads across part of the Putao plain which is about 200sq miles. We visit suspension bridges and spend some time by the river gorges having views of the Putao plain with a backdrop of snow-capped mountains far in the horizon. We continue bike trip east toward Lano Shan Village (one mile, 1.6 km) along the path that goes through field and village, from where we proceed to Mulano Lisu village, witnessing the hydro power mills which are used for rice and oil production. Ziyon is a large Rawan village beautifully set up by the Mula river. After lunch, we continue riding towards the north passing by Shidi Lushi village (about 2 mile, 3km) then on to Mamain Shidi village, eventually passing through scarp forest to the main road at Zidum from where we have another 30 minute bike ride back to Putao. (total biking hour – approx 6 moderate)
Biking trip to Majaw
Today we visit Putao market. We start our biking journey to Nantonhil hydro power site through Tonlihtu village. We bike through paddy fields and gardens to Majaw Lisu village where we explore this unique village, interact with locals. We then continue our ride through Majaw creek, leaving beautiful sites behind with the backdrop of Mt. Madwe with blazing snow over the horizon to Myoma village, from where we ride to Hoko village which served as the largest wholesale market in Putao. We spend some time in this village and finally head back to hotel. Dinner and overnight at Putao local house. (total biking hour – approx 3 easy).
Biking trip to Mudon area
Today enjoy an afternoon bike ride to Hoko valley. We then continue to Putaung Shan village (1.5 mile, 2.4km) through paddy fields and gardens having small Buddhist Shrines with a back drop of Blue Mountains and snow-capped Mountains far in the horizon. We continue to Gyinyankan Lisu village and finally walk to Malawagy village located on a small plateau, which gives us a panoramic view of Putao valley. Our return journey is through Lonsut village back to Putao. Before we reach to Putao we stop at lively Namhtun creek to watch daily activities like people fetching water, washing and bathing etc. Dinner and overnight at Putao local house. (total biking hour – approx 4 easy)
Putao - Yangon
This morning we shall once again visit Putao market for last minute shopping. Later we transfer to airport for your onward departure flight to conclude this unique experience. Should time permit you will visit one of the local villages to observe traditional dance performance of Rawan and Lisu youth and daily life activities by the villagers. Connect to departure flight to UK on arrival at Yangon airport.
